Elmer Wright, the gravel-voiced street musician who sang and played gospel music at the Pier for more than 60 years, died Saturday at age 92 after a short illness. Mr. Wright broke a hip in September and recently developed pneumonia, said Terri Wright, his wife. "He slipped peacefully away," she said. Clad in his trademark feathered cowboy hat, strumming an electric guitar through a single-speaker amplifier, Mr. Wright handed out tape recordings of his music, bantered with strollers and sprinkled his songs with words about the Lord. He did it for free, three days a week, starting in 1939. To those who stopped and talked, Mr. Wright often said his repertoire included more than 200 songs he had written. "He was a strong Christian," said Mrs.
Letter: What good neighbors do
Thanks to the two Marblehead residents who wrote to condemn the failure of drivers in Marblehead to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. It’s a letter I’ve been meaning to write for months myself. I have had far too many close shaves along Humphrey Street where I walk my dog almost daily. Not only do people routinely fail to stop for pedestrians to allow them to cross, but more times than I care to count I have almost been run down when I have been in the crosswalk halfway across the road. I have seen this happen repeatedly, to young mothers with infants in strollers, to children, and to the elderly. Drivers regularly fail to observe the speed limits, and it’s plain that many of them are driving 10 to 20 miles over the posted 30 mph speed limit.
Start brushing when first baby tooth arrives
It has been said that it's easier to prevent bad habits than to break them. Helping kids develop good habits when they're young is paramount in creating good habits for life. Whether it's healthy eating, polite manners or good oral hygiene, the earlier we establish good habits for our children the better. February is National Children's Dental Health Month, a community awareness campaign designed to promote the importance of oral hygiene from an early age. ''Many parents wait too long to make tooth-brushing a regular habit,'' said Dr. Gabriela Rolland-Asensi, a pediatric dentist in Miami. ``Some people assume that children don't need to have their teeth brushed until they're 1 or 2 years old, but the time to start is when that first baby tooth comes in.'' Not only do good dental health habits promote a healthier mouth, they also may reduce behavioral challenges associated with getting young kids to brush their teeth.

Zsa Zsa‘s husband: I might be baby‘s dad
LOS ANGELES - The husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor said Friday that he had a decade-long affair with Anna Nicole Smith and may be her infant daughters father. "If you go back from September, she wasnt with one of those guys, she was with me," von Anhalt told The Associated Press in an interview Friday. Von Anhalt, 59, and Gabor, 90, have been married for more than 20 years. Von Anhalt, who is Gabors eighth husband, said he and Smith met in the 1990s when Smith was still married to elderly oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II. He said Smith approached him and Gabor at the Plaza Hotel in New York. He said the two started an affair soon after, meeting over the years in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. For much of that time, he said, Smith urged him to make her a princess like his wife.
